This late Victorian Queen Anne style house was built about 1909 for John Knox. The original picturesque front porch like that seen on the 177 North Main Street house has disappeared.

This house was built in 1905 by Joseph Reese. He sold the house to John Knox by 1909. It was constructed at the same time as the house to the south, 122 N. Main and as those at 135 & 177 N. Main, and 18 N. Holcomb. All of these houses were originally built as a blend of the Queen Anne and Stick Styles. The original wraparound porches with wood turned balusters and spindels under the eaves common to these houses were all removed except on the house at 177 N. Main. Note the spiderweb window in the street facing gable. In 1943 Mrs. Gertrude Britten opened the Clarkston Rest Home here. A subsequent newspaper item says the front porch was enclosed. The rest home was moved to Vliet's on the Hill/Green Acres on W. Church St. In the 1980s the home underwent a major restoration/renovation.
