This Queen Anne style house was built for Henry Travis in 1905.

This late Victorian Queen Anne/Stick Style house was built in 1905 by/for Henry Travis. The 2/02/1905 issue of the Oakland County Post noted "H. L. Travis was in Pontiac, yesterday, to view some houses there with the idea of planning his new one after them." Two months later, a 4/06/1905 item stated "H. L. Travis has broken new ground for the cellar of his new house which he will erect at the upper end of Main Street." The exterior has changed little since it was built. The picturesque details typical of the style which have disappeared from other Clarkston houses built in the same style about the same time, are still visible here (Those houses at 122, 130, 135 N. Main & 18 N. Holcomb still have the same tall two story section with a projecting gable facing the street. Some of them still have shaped shingles in that gable.) The shaped shingles & spider web windows in the gables; and the diagonally placed front door covered by a wrap-around porch with a roof supported by turned posts are original elements.
