East side of street

This Midwestern adaptation of the Greek Revival style house, built by 1860, was constructed on the site of Jesse Millard's cooper shop.

By 1855 this was the site of Jesse Millard's cooper shop. (He moved the shop to the east side of Main Street, just north of the stream, in 1860.) From 1862 to 1877 this was the home of Richard Brockenshaw, shoe and boot maker. The house was built by 1860 as a typical Midwestern farmhouse adaptation of the Greek Revival style with the 1 &1/2 story section's broken pedimented gable end facing the street, and a single story wing with recessed porch typical of the style. The house has seen many subsequent changes and additions. The original wood clapboard is presently covered with aluminum siding.
