West side of street

This house with its wide broken pediment Greek Revival entablature served for a time as a school house.

The main section of this house, built circa 1850, has a most imposing Greek Revival broken pediment entablature. This section apparently served as a school house for grades 1-10 until 1912 when it was replaced by the brick school at 90 N. Main. The Greek Revival style main section of the house with gable facing the street has seen many changes. The section under the gable roof had large plate glass windows on either side of the front door, the result of a circa 1950 remodeling. The house was again remodeled in the 1990s when a garage was also constructed. The house was in the Scrace family for many years. The last Scrace family resident was Ada , born 1891. She went on "birthday calls" with Dr. Sutherland until 1917. Ada Scrace was the daughter of Frank and Anjanette Scrace who had a farm on Pine Knob Road.
