This Greek Revival style farmhouse was apparently constructed for/by early Clarkston settlers, Evens and Nelly Jane Buzzell in 1853/54. Typical of houses built as Midwestern adaptations of the Greek Revival style, it has a two story section with a one story wing to the east. A porch fronts the wing. Note that this house sits on a small rise. Like Greek temples which were built on hills or rises, many American Greek Revial buildings were purposely situated on hills or slight rises. The stone fireplace was probably a circa 1910 addition. In the 1950s the house became a combination business and residence. One of the few residences in the Village which was rezoned commercial in the 1970s it has remained so since. In 1996 an addition was constructed connecting the house and the garage to the west. The garage was then remodeled to provide more interior retail space. The photo below shows a small building which stood on the site of the present garage, circa 1900, next to blacksmith shop of Frank Yeager. Beyond the blacksmith shop is a glimpse of the house which was later moved to 6129 South Main Street. The Baptist Church is in the distance.
