Born 1836. Died 1/8/1913.
Son of Peter & Mary Addis.
Wife, Jane Petty. Born 1840. Died 5/22/1911.
Ephriam & Jane first went to live in Saginaw. 1876 tax records listed Ephriam for land previously owned by George VanSyckle on the southeast corner of Dixie Highway & White Lake Rd. Peter is credited with building the Gothic Revival style house which stood on the corner of this property in 1876. (It was moved in 1990 [? ] to a site at 180 N. Main St, Clarkston.) Reportedly VanSyckle only had a small log cabin on the site. However the records seem to indicate the building was on the site when VanSyckle was the owner. An 1872 map of the Village shows the footprint of a building on the site then. In 1874 the assessed value was $1700 for 124 acres, owner VanSyckle. In 1876 when Ephriam Addis was the owner of the same 124 acres the value was still $1700. By 1888 Ephriam sold the northern part of the property on which the house stood to John Landis, he retained the southern 40 acres along White Lake Rd. This too conflicts with the information in a 6/22/1967 Clarkston News article by Constance Lektzian which said Addis owned property along Dixie Highway on the south side as far as Maybee Rd. The tax records do not support this information.
