The Beardslees operated a store until W.W. ll on the southwest corner of W. Washington and S. Main (historically, the site of Milton H. Clark then, Esidore Jossman's store). Byron then had a coal & lumber business, finally becoming a partner in Miller- Beardslee Lumber at 89 N. Holcomb, the successor to the business his father started on E. Church St.
A Pontiac Post article in 1902 announced the opening of a new business in Pontiac, Beardsley, Herron and Beattie formerly Green and McGee, 38 N. Saginaw. Byron Beardsley began a dry goods business with C. W. Horton about 1892.
