Son of Jeremiah and Emma ( Walter ) Brown.
Wife, Mary, was the daughter of Guy and Nancy ( Kitchen ) Selden. Mary was born in Independence Township.
Five Children: surviving at the time of Leroy's death, Guy C. (a reporter for The Press, Pontiac); Leroy N., Jr. ; and E. Lucile.
Leroy was one of Clarkston's early lawyers. He was admitted to the Oakland County Bar after studying law in the office of Taft and Perry in Pontiac.
He was appointed postmaster in 1896.
He was Township clerk for ten years, Treasurer for two terms, a member of the county board of school examiners for five years, and a member of the Clarkston Board of Education for 15 years. He also served as Village President. At the time of his death he was Township Supervisor elected first in 1900.
