Reportedly "Wash" & brother, John, had a butcher store in Clarkston for a time. He was a farmer who came to live in the Village at 71 N. Main in 1912. He built the stone front porch, now seen on that house, to replace the deteriorated bases of the original columns. He served as a Township Supervisor for 2 separate terms, the first lasting 7 years & the second, 10 years. (See a Clarkston News, 4/08/32,article announcing his candidacy as a Democrat.) He, & daughter Fanny, moved to the small building south of the brick building at 90 N. Main. He had purchased the two buildings with the intent of converting the large brick building to apartment use.
His daughter, Fanny, was living at home at the time of his death. See 11/02/1967 Clarkston News article by Constance Lektzian.
