Sloat was proprietor of the Clarkston Venetian Blind Co. which opened in 1938 in a building behind the one which stood on the southwest corner of W. Washington & S. Main St. A fire which, in 1939, started in this building burned it and the two wooden structures to the east which fronted on S. Main St.
