Native of Somerset shire, England. Came to America in 1830 & to Oakland Co., Mi. in 1837.
Wife, Sarah Clark, daughter of Jeremiah Clark, Sr. Sister of Jeremiah & Nelson W. Clark.
Sons: Nelson, Harry & Guy.
Daughters: Juliette (Julia), Emeline (Mrs. Smith), Celestia, Laura, and Nettie Susan.
Jacob had a farm of Section 9 of Independence Township. He was one of the first assessor's appointed at the first Town meeting in 1837. He also ran the inn which was started by John Hertwig on S. Main St. in Clarkston. See 6/29/1967 Clarkston News article by Constance Lektzian.
