Wife, Elizabeth Ann, born in New York in 1836 according to 1860 records which also listed Joshua, 2 and Helen, 1, both born in Michigan (She became Elizabeth Vliet Bower.)
She was the grandmother of Lee & Bessie Clark & the aunt of Nettie Vliet Lambert. Nelson was a building contractor reportedly responsible for many Village houses. A Civil War soldier, Company D of the 22nd Michigan Volunteers, he died in Andersonville Prison & was buried in the National Cemetery, Andersonville, Georgia.
