The early 20th century saw builders reach to a variety of architectural influences around the world for inspiration.
The Colonial Revival style, as the name states, took its elements from the predominate architecture of AmericaĆs colonial history; rectangular footprints of clapboard [or brick] houses with gable roofs at right angle to the street; multipaned windows with simple frames; paneled front doors with simple frames, or with sidelights & fanlights.
